While winter 2016 catalog is filled with plenty of shows to devour your tastes, this one show in particular caught my attention. Ajin, which is a horror mystery Anime series which is probably one of the best shows from the catalog, at least for me, I mean based on first impressions.
Ajin was quite in the buzz, thanks to it’s increasingly popular manga series titled Ajin: Demi-Human. Although I haven’t read the manga or even haven’t watched the movie which released somewhere in late 2015. I still was hooked to this show, just after the first episode. I am desperately waiting for the next episode now.
Ajin are humans that cannot die. Seventeen years ago, they first appeared on a battlefield in Africa. From then on, more of their kind are discovered within the human society. The story is about a student named Kei Nagai, who discovers he is an immortal Ajin when he is hit by a truck. He becomes a wanted person because Ajin are considered criminals and the only person who is there to support him is his best friend, Kaito.
I usually don’t like CGI for characters in Anime, and I guess after watching Ajin I hate it even more. Sure the studio really up their game since Knights of Sidonia, yet the characters look really out of place. For an anime this good, this was really disappointing. Still don’t drop the series just because of that CGI, you might not know what might be in store.
Luckily, Netflix will also be streaming the series on a worldwide basis starting three days after the Japanese TV broadcast. I know this series isn’t the kind of the show which everybody can watch but just give it a shot. Although I still feel that if this series had a normal 2D animation it would had been more popular.
