Netflix has a huge library of its own original content and it continues to grow. Expanding that library, Netflix is launching its first exclusive anime series and yes its not like any of those anime wannabes. Based on a science fiction space manga ‘Knights of Sidonia’ will feature genetically-altered mech pilots fighting shapeshifting aliens.
The story focuses on the ship Sidonia and young Garde pilot Nagate Tanikaze as he uses his amazing combat skills to protect what remains of human civilization.
The series originally aired in Japan and now the 12-episode anime series will hit Netflix in subbed Japanese version or if you want there will be also a dubbed version. The series will hit Netflix on July 4th.
Series is produced by Tokyo-based Polygon Pictures, co-produced and co-funded by King Record Co. and Kodansha Co. ‘Knights of Sidonia’ aired on Japanese TV in April.
Interestingly the second season of the show is already scheduled for November this year and for those who stick to the manga, Vertical is releasing the original manga in North America.
