Anne Dark is a different kind of superhero film. First of all it’s a female superhero we all wanted. Last week I talked about how rare it is to see a strong female superhero who isn’t just a charm, well this not only smashes that but also adds paranormality to it.
For starters, Anne Dark is a teen with dark superpowers, who is fighting against forces of darkness to save the world and enact revenge for her sister’s death. Seems pretty solid plot to me, but unfortunately it hasn’t gone into production yet and it needs your help to kickstart their project.
The movie will be directed by Brent Sims, whose first short film Grave Shivers was screened at more than 37 festivals and took home LA’s H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival Audience Award in 2015. Just look at the concept artworks, are they not awesome.
Creator Brent Sims writes:
Anne Dark tells the story of a teen with dark superpowers who must battle her way through three mystical gates, guarded by the forces of darkness, in order to save the world and enact revenge for her sister’s death. I continue to be influenced by sci-fi, fantasy, and horror genres from the 80s like The Dark Crystal, Labyrinth, Blade Runner, and The Last Starfighter. The practicalities of their storytelling felt pure and original. My hope is to inspire audiences and take them to worlds uncharted by the human imagination.
Besides Creator/Director Brent Sims this film’s cast also bills some really amazing people like the guy behind VFX, Joseph Hartford has worked on Forza Horizon 2, Ryse: Son of Rome and Grave Shivers. You’ll can see the entire team on the project’s kickstarter page.
