Serial: The Show Of the Fall Everyone is Taking About
Serial is a podcast which went viral last week. I know, that this sounds strange as I had never heard of any podcast going viral, after all it’s a podcast, kids these days don’t listen to such stuff.
Obviously there are podcast listeners across the world including me also it isn’t surprising that this podcast is the #1 podcast in the entire world considering the nature of the show.
Serial is a new podcast from the creators of This American Life, hosted by Sarah Koenig. Serial will follow one story – a true story – over the course of a whole season. We’ll follow the plot and characters wherever they take us and we won’t know what happens at the end of the story until we get there, not long before you get there with us. Each week we’ll bring you the latest chapter, so it’s important to listen in order, starting with Episode 1.
Serial is a real world crime investigation and is not fictional. The true story of the 1999 murder of 18-year-old Hae, originally her Pakistani-American ex-boyfriend Adnan Syed is accused of murder, who is serving a life sentence for it but in this show they investigate if he actually was responsible for it.
Now if they prove Adnan not guilty then this would a breakthrough but even if was found guilty in the end of the episode it won’t be much of a deal breaker as suspense level of this show is amazing and even the episodes are recorded in real time so even the show makers don’t know what would happen next.
Still there are problems with the immense popularity of the show. Serial is a real time investigation which means that real people are involved in it and the thing is that these so called wannabe detectives are also trying to investigate the thing, which brings us to the point of privacy problems.
Obviously they are many negative skepticism online about this show, check this article Success And ‘Serial’ Backlash on Digg which outlines it [Spoiler Alert].
Anyways if you haven’t listened to this podcast you can listen to it on iTunes, Stitcher and on their official website.
