‘Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds’ is Perfect to Kill Boredom
A few days back I stumbled upon this game called Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds and it was quite fun, nothing extraordinary but simple and fun.
This game is kind of a spin off of 2D fighting game Phantom Breaker which along with this is a beat-’em-up game. Unlike the original game this one has kind of a retro 8-bit design with chibi characters.
Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds will sort of bring back to you that old school arcade experience.
This is one of those games which is just perfect to kill boredom.
The game is small, but there are quite a number of modes to play around, like arcade, story mode & co-op. I think the story mode is ridiculous, not only it is small but also not worth the time and c’mon in a beat-’em-up game who is up to play the story mode.
There is nothing complicated about this game, I played this game with difficulty set difficult and I lasted for like two hours without dying or any damage.
The characters are designed nicely but are hard to distinguish from each other. On the flipside there is an interesting amount of variety in the enemies you would be facing. Even if the game has a retro feel the environment is quite colorful and is pleasing visually.
Yet there are quite numbers of issues, like the controls are not the friendly and you would have hard time figuring out certain moves. The online co-op is decent but there is a bit of lag there at times and obviously like all beat-’em-up games this too feels repetitive after a while.
With its bright & colorful setting, old-school arcade graphics and 8-bit tunes there is just a lot of things to love about this game.
Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds is a straightforward side-scrolling beat-’em-up game and seriously anyone can play it.
Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds is available on Xbox 360, PlayStation Vita, and PC/Steam
