Nisekoi Ends Next Week, Author Already Planning A New Series
Popular Rom-Com manga series Nisekoi to end next week’s Shonen Jump 36/37 double issue. In the final issue of the series, Author Naoshi Komi signs off with a note saying that his next manga will be published in Shueisha’s Jump GIGA Vol. 4 magazine (formerly known as Shōnen Jump NEXT!!).
There’s speculation that the new Komi will be a one-shot, or at least be introduced with a one-shot, just like Nisekoi began its journey. Komi drew the original Nisekoi one-shot manga in Shueisha’s Jump NEXT!! magazine in early 2011, and turned it into a manga series in November of the same year.
Nisekoi was listed at number 30 out of Oricon’s top 30 manga series sold in 2013, with 1,542,417 copies sold. In 2014 it was ranked 16 out of top 30 manga series sold in 2014, with 3,816,372 which is more than twice the sale of 2013. Meanwhile if you haven’t read the manga yet, you can now, thanks to Viz Media (English Reprint Distributor/Publisher) or if manga isn’t your thing you can catch up with the series on Crunchyroll, Hulu, and Daisuki.
While Nisekoi isn’t that great or original it still was quite a joy to read. Hopefully Naoshi Komi strikes gold with his upcoming new series.
