Jessica Jones is Not Your Usual Superhero TV Show, It’s Marvel’s Biggest Revelation
Netflix just released the whole first season of Jessica Jones, and it’s really good. The premises of the show also exists in the Marvel Cinematic Universe(MCU), where Netflix’s Daredevil exists too. The series sees brilliant performances from the actors and the story is quite compelling. The show’s got everything from violence, darkness, approach to sexuality, topics such as rape, assault and Posttraumatic Stress Disorders(PTSD). The show is clearly not for children but for mature audiences.
Krysten has performed her role absolutely well as Jessica.
The series revolves around the darker Marvel characters, Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter). She is settled in New York and opens her own Detective agency ‘Alias Investigations’, the cases revolve around people who possess special abilities. Jessica who is dealing with PTSD and who is an alcoholic too, isn’t trying to save the world but trying to save her own world. The cases she gets are mostly related to her past. We can see the anger and care towards the people close to her.
The characters in the show seem very real people unlike the comics. These characters also have their own problems to deal with. The show is like a detailed case study of the characters and their relationships to other characters, and it’s done tremendously well. The characters direct from the comics such as Luke Cage, Patsy Walker, Will Simpson, Jeri Hogarth which was Jeryn Hogarth in the comics and a male character.
Kilgrave is one of those characters which as a viewer you would absolutely hate.
Talking about the big baddie of the show, Kilgrave (David Tennant). This is one of the best villains has put forward, others would be Loki and Kingpin, not saying other marvel villains were bad but were badly written. But he is not all dark, we also get variations in his character, he also puts humour in his character. We get his origins very well. but whatever maybe the case this is one of the character where you’ll love to hate him.
Jessica Jones is very well written and executed, The level we’ve come to expect from Netflix produced series which has a solid casting, top notch acting, a classic noir theme, the use of New York locations, the series’s take on Sex and other issues such as Rape and assaults. But there is something that keeps us hooked in to see the whole series, due to the characters with layers, and everyone has problems. We definitely recommend this show to those who love a dark story telling.
Jessica Jones stars Krysten Ritter, Mike colter, Rachael Taylor, Will Traval, Erin Moriarty, Eka Darville, Carrie-Anne Moss and David Tenant.
