Image’s Sex Criminals is Coming to TV
Sex Criminals is one of the acclaimed Image Comics series by Matt Fraction and Chip Zdarsky, a new deal suggests that Universal TV is considering developing it for the small screens.
Fraction and his wife/fellow comic book writer have struck a deal with Universal TV to use their Milkfed Criminal Masterminds production company as a TV launchpad for other comic creators’ independent properties, Sex Criminals is surely on top of the list.
Sex Criminals is an awesome series and I am not saying this because of the title but the title actually justifies itself.
For starter, the series exploits the life of a young couple who discover that they can stop time whenever they fuck, obviously that synopsis may turn you off but to be honest the amount of weirdness and humor makes this a amazing comic and possibly if things go well a good TV series.
This isn’t the only creator owned series being developed, this month we will also see Powers debuting on the Playstation Network.
I just hope this show airs on HBO, or any another channel that allows semi-graphic sex. There’s a possibility that Universal may air this on NBC as it is owned by it but we surely don’t want that to happen because c’mon you know even Constantine could last there.
Both Matt Fraction and Kelly Sue DeConnick have a lot of amazing comic series they could unleash on the small screen. Let’s hope this deal creates some solid comic books based TV series. Meanwhile read the original comic if you haven’t read it yet.
