More Comic Book TV Shows to Assemble In 2015
Comic book based movies and TV shows kinda exploded in the past decade. Talking about TV, shows like Arrow and Flash also have killer ratings so naturally producers have natural liking to these kind of shows.
It’s a wonderful time to be a TV comic book fan.
Daredevil, Vixen, Supergirl & iZombie are few of the many shows expected to hit the small screen this year. Basically comic book shows are smart investments, as there is already a fan base who is going to watch it and adding up new fans is just the regular deal.
Anyways The Flash, Arrow, Agents of Shield, Constantine, The Walking Dead and the latest addition to the flock Agent Carter are the shows running right now. Out of those shows Arrow, The Flash and The Walking Dead are already renewed for next seasons and leaving Constantine rest of the shows might also get renewed.
BTW following are the shows which you might get to watch this year.
Technically this is a web series which will hit Netflix on April 10th but that’s the best part as all the 13 hour long episodes will be out all at once on it’s premiere.
If you don’t know Daredevil follows a blind lawyer Matt Murdoch, who is a lawyer by day and vigilante by night. Interestingly this series will be different from other Marvel shows, as it will be based in the same universe as Marvel movies but won’t be connected.
Following the success of Arrow and The Flash, CW is all set to include another Superhero in their guild. Just like Daredevil this will be a web series which will hit CW Seed (CW’s online platform).
Vixen follows a African American female hero, a former member of the Justice League, known for her magical abilities. Over time the show will also do crossover with both Flash and Arrow making it one of a kind Animation/Live-Action crossover.
Unlike others this is actually going to air on TV, on CBS that is. There is no details about the cast out yet but we know that this show will have a slightly different origin story than the one in the comic book.
Obviously Supergirl needs no introduction. Apparently the series will be more focused on crime solving. Best part, it will do crossovers with Flash and Arrow, although it will more of Flash and less of Arrow, still it will be awesome.
CW just loves DC, after all no one would have expected this Vertigo(DC imprint) character to come to life. The original comic ran from 2010 to 2012 for 28 issues and it looks like a risky affair for TV.
iZombie follows young zombie named Liv who apparently is given visions by the brains that she eats, so where else would this ability be useful rather than in crime solving. CW’s audience seems to be the perfect match for this show.
We are yet to hear more details about this show but for now all we know that Preacher is confirmed to hit AMC. It is expected to hit this year but can be eventually delayed. This series is again based on the Vertigo comic book with same title.
Preacher follows Reverend Jesse Custer, a disillusioned Texas preacher who discovers that God has abandoned Heaven and takes it upon himself to set things right. The surprising thing about this is the writers, this series is jointly written by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg assuring satirical edge to the show.
Iron Fist, AKA Jessica Jones & Luke Cage
Back in November Marvel Studios announced that it is going to make five TV shows for Netflix; four focused around the Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage characters, and a Defenders series that unites every one of them, say like a crossover.
We already know that Daredevil is coming out this April but as far as others go we know nothing about them. We may probably see them this year or next depending upon Marvel & Netflix’s plans but we will surely see them.
For starters Jessica Jones is a former superhero turned Detective with amazing abilities like flight & super strength. Luke Cage is ‘hero for hire’ with superhuman abilities & Iron Fist is the one with iron fist(duh!) and excellent skills in martial arts. Since these characters aren’t that popular all this series stand on is writing & direction
Powers is special. Powers comes from a indie comic, technically speaking it started as indie comic but Marvel imprint Icon eventually bought it.
This series will be exclusively available on PlayStation Network featuring a fine cast. The series is expected to arrive in late 2015.
The series follows two detectives, Christian Walker and Deena Pilgrim, who investigate cases involving people with superhuman abilities.
More From DC
Unlike the above shows there are even more shows which are expected but won’t hit the small screen this year. Unlike Marvel, DC has not kept tight secrets as a result there are various rumors floating around.
Krypton is one such show which is confirmed to hit SyFy but that’s all what we know about the show. There is no word about the release date of the show which will feature Gotham like origin of Superman.
There are a array of shows which are rumored like Teen Titans, Young Justice, Static Shock and Atom. There are even shows based on Vertigo series like DMZ, Scalped and Lucifer.
So we have a hell lot of stuff waiting for us in the future.
