2016 has reached a halfway towards the end and to be honest not many movies met our expectations. Although all this time I only cared about superheroes, Psst! Anyways 2016 is far from over and the second half of 2016 surely does look promising. Here are 5 movies which have peaked my excitement for the second half of 2016.

Pete’s Dragon

Pete’s Dragon

As a kid you must have heard about this 1977 animated movie from Walt Disney, well guess what this movie is returning back as a remake in all its glory as a live action movie directed by David Lowery. The story revolves around a young orphan named Pete (Oakes Fegley) who left his home of abusive adoptive family, he goes lives in the woods where he meets and befriends a green dragon named Elliot. Suicide Squad

Suicide Squad

Suicide Squad is the third film in the DC Extended Universe by Warner Bros. and DC comics, after Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The movie is directed by David Ayer. The official synopsis reveals, A secret government agency recruits imprisoned supervillains to execute dangerous black ops missions in exchange for clemency. A lot is riding on this movie, as we know the last two movies coming out of this studio was very divisive and did not make the money it wanted to, also the movie has a new take on DC’s most iconic characters such as Batman and the Joker. But the trailers for the movie look really amazing with the mix of songs such as Bohemian Rhapsody from Queen, Ballroom Blitz from the Sweet and I started a Joke by Bee Gees. Lets hope Warner Bros. does win over the critics this time as they say Third time’s a charm.

Cast: Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Jay Hernandez, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Cara Delevingne, Karen Fukuhara etc.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

Rogue One

Rogue One is the first standalone Star Wars Anthology film and the eighth live action movie in the franchise. The film is directed by Gareth Edwards. Following the foundation of the Galactic Empire, a band of Rebel fighters come together to steal the plans for the Death Star before it can be used to enforce the Emperor’s rule. Edwards stated that the style of the film will be similar to that of a war film, stating, “It’s the reality of war. Good guys are bad. Bad guys are good. It’s complicated, layered, a very rich scenario in which to set a movie.”. This film is going up and down with the media coverage for its reshoots of over 40 to 50% of the film, but we have a full trust in Lucasfilm and Disney to make this a good ride. The official teaser is out and it looks this will be one hell of a War film in space One more reason to get excited for this movie is The return of Darth Vader for this movie, James Earl Jones will reprise his role to voice him. So Keep Calm and Wait for Rogue One.
