5 Anime that Deserve Another Season

These days anime series are becoming shorter, we hardly get shows with more than 12 episodes, and even if they do the max they stretch is to 26 episodes, some of those shows complete them in the run, ending themselves with the source material while some just cover some arcs leaving more to be discovered.

There surely are a lot of shows which deserve yet another season but here are some of my picks.

Daily Lives of High School Boys

Daily Lives of High School Boys

This is one of the best high school comedy anime ever. This anime has a short skit like structure, but executes the hilarious jokes and situations perfectly. Even while focusing on pure comedy, this anime manages to bring out the “refreshing” feel that most slice-of-life comedy anime lack. This anime plays its part wonderfully and keeps us wanting for more. Definitely deserves a second season.

Hataraku Maou-sama (The Devil Is a Part-Timer!)

Hataraku Maou-sama

In this anime, the demon lord after being defeated escapes from his world to our present world, Japan, more specifically with his general. But they cannot use any magic in this world. So, they must blend in as humans while figuring out how to return back home. This includes renting a flat, getting jobs etc. Throughout the show we are introduced to new characters from the demon world and see them settling down here. The characters make the show here. From their stupid interactions to the outbursts, we just can’t get enough. This is one of the very few shows, where stupid characters are annoying. I definitely won’t mind another season filled with stupidity.

Haruhi Suzumiya no Yuutsu (2006)

I must admit, I’m a huge fan of Haruhi and her antics. Although, we got a spinoff series coming out this spring, I’d like to see more of the light novels
being animated by KyoAni similar to the 2006 anime. The first season missed out a lot on the chemistry between Haruhi and Kyon and their further misadventures with the SOS brigade.

Sket Dance

Sket Dance

Sket Dance is a slice of life, high school comedy based on three friends who start the Living Assistance club (aka Sket Brigade) to help people in need. However, classifying this show as just another high school comedy will be injustice to the writers, for it’s so much more. This anime is very well written and maintains a proper balance between drama and comedy elements. It has a strong and powerful narrative with some amazing multi-episode plots which is the MSP of the show. However, it ended quite abruptly while the manga had lots of material to go on. This anime deserves a reboot.

Baccano! is based on the award winning light novel series of the same name. However, unlike the novels which spanned more than 20 volumes, the anime production had only one season consisting of 13 episodes. This is a brilliant anime, and to those who haven’t watched it yet, it’s a must watch. It successfully manages to merge in drama, action, suspense and humor into one without really sacrificing anything. The character development is amazing as well. This anime deserves multiple seasons.

Haruhi Suzumiya deserves nothing. Half the second season was just the same episode with minor tweaks here and there. Infinite time loops are one thing, but that was just overdoing it.
