10 Best Miniseries and One-Shot Comic Books

If you looking for a short but amazing miniseries or one-shot comic books make sure you check these awesome series. With many creators seemingly embracing minis once again and even major publishers publishing some of the absolute finest short comics, we surely need to sort the best out of the creative pile.

X-Men: Prelude to Schism

X-Men Schism

Schism is the big mutant summer “event”. It is a mutant version of Civil War, although this series is nowhere connected to the main series but has some in depth character portraits of Magneto, Professor X, Cyclops, and Wolverine. Obviously there is a lot of action but much emphasis is on character developments.

Batman: Gates of Gotham

DC Gates Of Gotham

This is an interesting take in the Batman universe. Centers around decades-old mystery connected to the founding fathers of Gotham City. one of the finest superhero mystery novel which also features Red Robin, Black Bat (Cassandra Cain) and Robin (Damian Wayne) as the main characters.

Alabaster: Wolves

Alabaster Wolves

Dancy Flammarion is the main character in this series and by the time we get acquainted with her she is already represented as a killer of monsters and demons. The artwork is beautiful. Although some imagery is dark and disturbing, the overall representation is amazing. Quite an interesting read, as a user you will be drawn into it’s dark blood-drenched mysteries.

Daredevil: End of Days

Death Of Daredevil

This series has been in the works for years. This comic mini series imagines a Dark Knight styled conclusion of the Daredevil basically it centers around the death of Daredevil in a noir styled mystery series.

Galacta: Daughter of Galactus

Galacta

I doubt hardly anyone would have heard about this series, for starters as the title suggests the series is about Galacta aka the daughter of Galactus. While Galactus is the terror of the universe his daughter Galacta or Gali has affection for the planet Earth but as her cosmic hunger begins she finds it hard to resist her deadly behaviour. This series also features Wolverine, Thor and Fantastic Four and has stunning art.

All-Star Superman

All-Star Superman

All-Star Superman is a perfect comic book collection. Like the every All-Star series this is also not related to the original Superman comic and yet is hailed to be one of the best Superman stories of all time. The story is ultra-futuristic and full of neo-science babble that marks most of Morrison’s work. It has fantastic dialogue and pushes Superman and the mythos to it’s limit.

Astonishing Spider-Man & Wolverine

Spiderman & Wolverine

This comic series is filled with crazy random things and also those moments of “Hell! thats awesome.” After All it features two of the most popular characters from the Marvel universe. Its a no secret that they don’t get together that well and not also in this series do they. Forgetting that cheesy title, the series is interestingly fun filled featuring awful beings like The Czar, Big Murder and Doom the Living Planet!

Flashpoint

Flashpoint

Flashpoint is one of the interesting takes on the Flash and the entire Justice League Franchise. The series tries to imagine “What If?” and “How?.” The Series centers around Flash and how he goes back in time to save his Mom which changes the future of Justice League. An fascinating alternate take on DC Universe heroes.

Hellboy: Being Human

Hellboy Being Human

Hellboy is one such character who is not from the DC or Marvel franchise and still is amazingly popular. This comic continues the tradition of amazing yet simple stories with awesome artwork. In this take Hellboy and Roger take on a horrible witch and a bunch of zombies to send them back to hell. Obviously that totally sounds like a Hellboy story and is amazingly written too.

Trillium

Trillium

Now this is a unusual addiction to this list for very basic reason that this comic is published by Vertigo makes it a non-hero comic. The story is a inter-dimensional, time traveling love story between two explorers in two different time periods, and how their budding love threatens the fabric of the universe. An interesting Sci-Fi tale which you can either love or hate.
